Mental Math

Our program is designed to increase focus, memory, grades, and develop exceptional mental math skills. The key to our program is that we use an abacus to teach the concepts of arithmetic. The mental math skills will grow as they progress through the program. G-Smart Kids parents ultimately find their children mastering concepts that put them grade levels ahead of their peers

Ages (3.5 yrs +)

Too Young?

Is your child still in preschool or maybe has just a slight grasp of writing numbers? Nothing to fear, we have designed an entry level specifically for the young ones in which they are taught to write numbers and begin working on the abacus.

Too OLD?

The program holds great benefits for kids who can already do mental math. They are able to grasp the fundamentals faster with stronger understanding. As result they can reach higher levels with less difficulty and can surpass their peers in their math ability.

How does the G-Smart Kids program work?

it only takes 20 minutes to develop
benefits for a lifetime !

Starting the G-Smart Kids Mental Math Program will help build and advance your child's focus, memory, and mental math skills; advantages that go beyond school.

Class Session: Once a week for 1 hour & 45 minutes.

Home Work: 20 minutes a day, 3 -> 5 days/week.

Your child will advance through the curriculum at a pace that promotes full understanding. Week to week they learn a new concept or application and are constantly being challenged. To make sure your child does not struggle later on in the program, our trained teachers make sure the student has a full understanding of the concept before moving further into the curriculum.

We make sure our students are being challenged without making the program too difficult. So if a student is struggling, extra emphasis will be placed on the area of difficulty and pace will be slowed on, On the other hand, difficulty can be increased to create challenge.

At G-Smart Kids we go beyond teaching basic arithmetic operations. Instead, our students actively develop focus, memory, and critical thinking as they progress through the program. Children learn how to perform large arithmetic calculations very quickly in their mind without the aid of a calculator or google. Our program allows for constant progression through daily practice and helps your child develop skills that impact more than the ability to do math.

Every age is just right; no child is too young or too old.

Younger children enrolled in our program develop strong math skills and excel beyond their grade level quickly. The program is designed to ensure enough time is provided to fully understand and apply the concepts.

Older children grasp concepts very quickly with a strong understanding. They learn to perform mental math faster and are constantly challenged.

Definitely! We have created a special entry level for the little ones. They will learn to write numbers, concepts of addition and subtraction, and begin working on the abacus. We have found that children who have a slight grasp of writing numbers develop strong skills that them to complete the rest of the program. They also excel above school curriculum in a very short period of time.

Children do not confuse it with math at school. Rather our students have a good grasp of both concepts. In the case of confusion, our teachers will clarify both concepts.

Our general guideline is that children work 20 minutes a day, 5 times a week. In this time the child is to complete the assigned homework along with accessory exercises to develop stronger skills.

It is highly recommended that you establish a daily routine by allocating 20 minutes a day known as ‘abacus/math time’.  You can assist your child in the understanding of concepts and help clarify; it can be a lot of fun for both parties. Through daily practice you will find your child continuously improving and this progress is very motivating.

Any questions you may have about the concepts or homework can be answered by the teacher; we will discuss with you the homework, curriculum, achievements, struggles and motivation after class. It is important to maintain regular communication with your instructor to help your child succeed.

There are a few things we should not forget in an era where we rely on technology for almost everything. One of them being is the ability to perform mental math accurately and quickly; it encourages understanding of numbers, it’s logical, stimulates the mind, and much more. It also provides a boost in confidence that applies to school, work, and everyday life.

Your child will attend a class once a week and each class is 1 hour & 45 minutes. Every session they do a variety of exercises and learn something new almost every week.

The ongoing cost of the program is $100/month + tax. There are no contracts but we require 2-3 months in advance. There is also a $75 one-time fee which includes registration and the kit required to start. Be sure to ask if any promotions are active.

Students will start mental math between 3-9 months. Our students learn to perform mental math by visualizing the abacus and thus require a good understanding of the abacus and concepts which comes from practice. We have found that once a strong understanding of the physical abacus is there the transition to mental math comes easily and develops quickly.

Class sizes are kept very small; 8 kids per teacher. It is almost like one on one tutoring without it being one on one. The classes are set up in a group setting where the teacher sits with all the students rather than standing at the front and teaching on a board. Everyone is not being pushed to learn the same thing and keep up with the group, rather at their own speed. The kids participate in the group activities and for individual activities they learn according to where they are in the program. If a child is struggling on a concept we will work to resolve it before moving onwards and if a child is doing well they will be challenged more by the teacher.

Our students develop really strong math skills which apply directly to their school curriculum. They learn more at school because there of the increased focus, concentration, and memory.

We accommodate a new child in an ongoing class because we do not teach the class as a whole. There are some shared activities they do that also allow for personalization.

Most definitely! These kids grasp the fundamentals quickly and develop very strong fundamental skills.

We have found that our students excel at math at school.

Not to worry, you will learn the abacus alongside your child during the parent-teacher discussion after class. You will be taught new concepts as they are so you can help them at home.
